Britten grew up in a small town 45 minutes west of Manhattan. When she was 5 years old, her father began driving her to the Met every Saturday for drawing lessons. Britten's passion and art education grew from there, traveling around the world and living on both coasts of The United States.
Britten's formal education commenced at Colorado College, before receiving a BFA from Academy of Art in San Francisco, CA and a MFA from Otis College of Art & Design.
With a solid foundation and appreciation of the masters, Britten's concentration in oil painting explores the relationship of textures, space, and color, to current political hot topics and personal events.
